A Founding Father’s Legacy

In 1954, nestled amongst the rustic landscape of rugged mountains, old-fashioned villages and picturesque coastlines of Calabria in southern Italy, the culinary artist, Enzo Fazzari, was born.

Enzo, the founding father of Enzo’s at Home, made his way to Australian shores with his parents in 1975, taking with him his passion for customary culture. His love of food and his love for his family was the inspiration behind his devotion to the journey of becoming one of South Australia’s living legends.

During his youth, Enzo’s palette of potential became known to the renowned Chef Clemente of Da Clemente, who took him under his wing, teaching and mentoring him on how to masterfully infuse his skills with traditional methods of Italian cooking. A few years later, Enzo paired his newfound knowledge with a trip back to his birthplace. There, he came to understand that the key to great food was its fresh ingredients.
With this simple, yet remarkable revelation, he returned to Adelaide to open ‘Enzo’s Ristorante’; the beloved dining destination of Hindmarsh, South Australia in 1999. An unforgettable dining experience highly acclaimed for its authentic Italian flavours and warm hospitality.

In 2004, in succession from ‘Enzo’s Ristorante’, Enzo broadened the scope of his culinary vision by launching ‘Enzo’s at Home’. A new venture aimed to bring the same delicious flavours of Enzo’s Ristorante into peoples homes through ready-made meals. This idea derived from the sentiment of sharing and honouring one’s family bonds through food within the comforts of their own homes, truly encapsulating the meaning of ‘home is where the heart is.’ A concept that further cemented his family values, influenced by his precious memories made with his Nonna, all those years ago in Calabria. Accompanying this intimate foundation, stood Enzo’s unwavering standards of integrity for his traditional recipes using the freshest of ingredients.

Over the years, Enzo’s at Home has continued to grow in popularity, becoming a trusted brand synonymous with convenience without compromising on taste or quality. Whether it’s their signature Meat Lasagne, rich in layers of homemade pasta and creamy bechamel or their hearty Bolognese sauce with slow-cooked meats and aromatic herbs, each product reflects Enzo’s passion for excellence in Italian cooking.

As the seasons favoured the flavours of Enzo’s at Home, it was time to introduce two staple ingredients to the management mix: Enzo’s eldest sons, Matteo and Alessandro. The apples didn’t fall far from the tree, as they followed in their father’s footsteps, inheriting the dedication to quality and authenticity that Enzo holds dear to his heart. Guided by Matteo and Alessandro’s leadership, Enzo’s at Home has well and truly flourished, diversifying their product range and has expanded its distribution through creating familial ties with independent retailers Nationwide. Through their efforts, the two brothers were able to achieve national recognition for Enzo’s at Home,
winning awards celebrating their popularity among consumers and environmental sustainability in their practices.

2024, marks Enzo’s at Home’s 20th year anniversary, a testament to the values and principles that the company is committed to; a dedication to authenticity and a desire to bring the essence of Italian cooking into the hearts and homes of all Australians.

    ENZO IS BORN

    Enzo Fazzari was born in the picturesque town of Rocella Ionica in Calabria, Southern Italy and spent his early childhood learning about quality fresh produce at the Sunday markets and cooking traditional Italian food at home with his mother, Elvira.

    ENZO ARRIVES IN AUSTRALIA AND STARTS HIS CULINARY JOURNEY

    Enzo arrives in Adelaide, Australia, where he collaborates with Chef Clemente at his restaurant Da Clemente in Rundle Street, furthering his knowledge of Italian cooking and restaurant management. Enzo went on to open his first restaurant with his brother, Damiano, named La Banca in 1989.

    MATTEO AND ALEX FOLLOW IN THEIR FATHER’S FOOTSTEPS

    After selling La Banca, Enzo opened Tutto Pasta with his cousin, Mimmo, making and selling a variety of fresh pasta made by hand, in which he taught his eldest sons, Matteo and Alex. Tutto Pasta was a predecessor to what would eventually become Enzo’s at Home.

    ENZO’S RISTORANTE IS OPENED

    Chef Clemente offers Enzo an opportunity to open a restaurant in an old location of his on Port Road, Hindmarsh. Thus, Enzo’s Ristorante was born, becoming an unforgettable dining experience highly acclaimed for its authentic flavours and warm hospitality, beloved by many for the next 25 years.
